I will fill in some history here when I get chance. For now I will just point you to Wikipedia.
As I'm writing a website about them and the company has been re-incarnated I guess I should at least provide a link to their contemporary website: The West End Watch Company.
Actually I quite like the Sowar 1916. Unfortunately my entire collection plus copious watchmaking tools cost considerably less than one of them.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI am a Senior Citizen, residing at PUNE, INDIA. My grandfather had a watch retail outlet in Bangalore in the 1920's. I had the opportunity of seeing him repair and maintain these wrist, pocket, and wall-clocks, and was encouraged to carry out light repairs, which further encouraged me to collect these watches.
I have a good collection of Antique wrist, pocket watches from manufacturers like West End watch Co., Favre Leuba, Omega, Cyma, Tissot, Titoni, Longines etc.
I am anxious to join an Antique watch collectors Group/ Forum, to enhance my knowledge from like minded collectors.
I have taken a few digital images of my collection and am anxious to display them. Please guide. Regards- JIJINA. email: mazdaconst@yahoo.co.in
